DIANA PLEITEZ, PRESIDENT AND CEO
The Pleitez family has worked together to bring Ben’s dream to life and as Ben’s mother, Diana is privileged to direct the project.
Diana was an educator and administrator for many years and has returned to the classroom as a student to learn more about nonprofit management and dog training. She recently completed the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Foundations and plans to work toward Dog Trainer Professional.
Diana is a proud mother of three sons and grandma of two wonderful grandchildren.
SONYA REAVES, VICE-PRESIDENT AND SECRETARY
Sonya is an educator and has a strong background in nonprofit management. She has worked with nonprofit organizations around the world; The European Bible School in Norway, at the Bere’ Adventist Hospital in Chad, Director at Small Steps for Compassion, Tanzania, and has worked with several different organizations in the United States, ranging from the Greater New York Salvation Army to small youth camps.
Sonya is a proud Texan but as a world traveler she has had the opportunity to appreciate different cultures and learn several different languages. She enjoys the theater and recently had the opportunity to be part of the celebrated Bracebridge Dinner Pageant at Yosemite’s Ahwanee Hotel. She is an outdoor enthusiast and spends her free time exploring national parks, running and planning her next adventure.
JULIE GIVENS, CPA, TREASURER Julie Givens is a Certified Public Accountant who established her CPA practice in 1998. In addition to managing her accounting practice, she is the Chief Financial Officer of a Research and Development Firm headquartered in San Mateo, California.
Her accounting experience in private industry as well as public accounting has given her a broad range of experience. Over the past 25 years she has worked with all business entity types including non profit organizations offering both tax and accounting services.
ALI IMEL, RVT, KPA CTP, CPDT-KA, DIRECTOR, SERVICE DOG TRAINING
Ali Imel is a Registered Veterinary Technician, certified dog trainer and owner of Yosemite Bark Dog Training Service. For many years Ali has trained dogs for competitive sports and she recently launched the inmate dog training program at Valley State Prison where Doc’s Dogs are currently being trained.
Ali’s family includes 3 Jack Russel Terriers, 1 Smooth Fox Terrier and a tabby cat.
CSM SERGIO GONZALEZ, MILITARY ADVISOR
Command Sergeant Major Gonzalez has served in the California Army National Guard for the past 37 years in array of increasingly responsible enlisted positions. Most recently, he served as Notification and Casualty Assistant Officer. In addition to his military education, he holds a Degree in Administration and Management Studies.
Command Sergeant Major Gonzalez has received numerous combat medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (with 2 campaign stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and many others, and numerous state awards.
JON PLEITEZ, RT, PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Jon Pleitez is a founding member of Doc’s Dogs and, as the brother of Spc. Pleitez, has been an integral part of the development of the vision for the project.
Jon is a Respiratory Therapist and he and his wife, Arianna Pleitez, have two children and a backyard menagerie. He is a dog training enthusiast and is currently training their Rottweiler, Rheagar.
